Protegiendo a nuestros padres

This quote by Dr King reminds me of the continuous fight for equity and human progress. Like taking the first few steps of a dimly lit staircase, the work towards equity can produce many emotions. There may be fear of the unknown, being the first, or what happens once we reach a landing. Equity is a process that will never fully reach its end because with time, the tools needed to become the best individual/community can possibly depend on change and growth.

Human progress is essentially climbing unfamiliar heights, reaching a landing and discovering there are more stairs bringing further forward movement, mystery and growth. Many of us become discouraged when it is realized that there is still more climbing to do. Instead let’s find the courage to forge the paths for others to continue the upward ascension.
