PPS-SF End of the School Year - Celebrating Those That Support Us!
Last week SFUSD students and families had their last days of the 2020-2021 school year and there were a flurry of emotions as the end of the school year leads into San Francisco’s reopening. From all of us at PPS-SF we want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS for making it through this year!
On May 20th, PPS-SF staff members made their way to an in-person staff retreat. For half of staff, it was the first time meeting in person. After a cup of coffee, meeting, and greeting, they got down to business to plan PPS-SF’s work for next school year.
Interim Executive Director Hayin Kimmer, and Miranda Martin, Director of Organizational Strategy and Partnerships put together a phenomenal day of learning about PPS-SF’s journey while also planning for the future. As communities change and grow it is natural for non-profits to do the same. We know that after the Pandemic things will be different and we want to make sure our work and services reflect that. We are finding new ways to support the families we serve. We understand that the “new normal” is uncertain and we want to be prepared to provide the support and collaboration needed for student success. We know that now more than ever “ It Takes a Village to Raise a Child”.
We also celebrated the support granted by the members of our Parent & Family Leader Board Program. As Program Director Greg Bailey states “Both the Leader Board Members (LBMs) and the Parent and Family Leaders (P&F Leaders) are essential to the efforts of PPS-SF and key to our community outreach.” A big THANK YOU to PPS-SF Leader Board Members and Parent & Family Leaders!
The celebration was warm and fun, members received a certificate of appreciation, a gift, and our deepest gratitude. Members shared their experience and sentiments with us, it warmed our hearts to hear their testimonies and expression of gratitude for the opportunity to learn valuable information about SFUSD that helped them support their students. They expressed how PPS-SF has become like a second family. It is this passion that drives them to work alongside PPS-SF and help other families in their communities.
