SFUSD Assignment Letters and NEW School Registration Information
What are the next steps in the assignment process?
Letters Will Be Sent on March 20, 2020
SFUSD school assignment letters will be sent on March 20, 2020 to families who applied by the January 17, 2020 deadline. Letters should be received the week of March 23, 2020.
If you are happy with the school assignment you receive, then register for your assigned school, and you are done. Congratulations!
If you do not receive you letter in the mail by Wednesday or Thursday of the week of March 23, you can call (415) 241-6085, or email enrollinschool@sfusd.edu for support. Do not come to 555 Franklin St., as offices will be closed. If you have access to a ParentVue account, you can access your student’s assignment information there! (per SFUSD FAQ)
How and When Do I Register?
Due to school closures and the current “Shelter in Place” order, registration this year will not happen in person. There will be two options for registration: online or mail-in.
You must register by April 10, 2020. That means if you mail-in your registration it must be postmarked by April 10.
OUR ADVICE: We recommend accepting your assigned school, even if you plan to participate in May Placement or Wait Pools. It does not decrease your chances of getting a school you prefer in subsequent placement periods and secures a spot for your child.
Online Registration (Preferred)
If you have an existing Family Portal/ParentVUE account, login using your existing account. Follow the steps listed in your assignment letter to accept or reject your assigned school. You will receive a confirmation email.
If you do not have an existing account, set one up by following instructions included with your assignment letter and using the activation code sent by mail dated March 16, 2020. If you did not receive a letter or are having trouble activating your account, submit a help request via this form.
Mail-in Registration
Your assignment letter will include a tear-off response sheet. To register, tear it off and mail it to:
Educational Placement Center
555 Franklin Street
San Francisco, CA 94102
Mail must be postmarked by April 10, 2020.
EPC staff will email you to confirm receipt of your registration response.
NOTE: due to the uncertainty surrounding the current school closure and city shelter in place order, the information in this blog post is subject to change. Please check https://www.sfusd.edu/enroll/march-placement-period for updates.
