Parent and Family Leader Board Program Launch!

We are very excited to announce the launch of the Parent and Family Leaders Board Members Program. This program further compliments our Parent & Family Leaders Program piloted two years ago which uses the promotora model to deliver needed resources to families throughout San Francisco and provides opportunities to parents/caregivers to serve as leaders.

The Leader Board Members Program expand our reach even further to families within the African American, Latinx, and Chinese communities. With the input of our Leader Board Members, we aim to make our services more accessible and provide a more focused level of empowerment and representation of parent voices in their communities.

Leader Board Members will develop their leadership experience, knowledge of the inner-workings of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), complete project-based work, and support their community, their children, and public education.

As representatives of PPS-SF, they will encourage parents, families and caregivers to engage in their child's education and increase their involvement in the SFUSD. Leader Board Members will collaborate with PPS-SF, connect with community members and share valuable knowledge and feedback with PPS-SF on ways we can better support families, including new workshop topics and events.

We strive to make the navigation of San Francisco public schools equitable and to represent diverse, authentic voices in education policy. With the support of our Parent and Family Leader Board Members, we will continue to make information about enrollment, family partnership, and policy in San Francisco public schools increasingly accessible. Our Parent & Family Leader Board Members Program will help us do just that as we continue to grow the size and strength of the program for years to come.

Martina is a mother of one child currently enrolled in SFUSD and is also a former Parent & Family Leader who has been super committed in serving the Latinx community! Martina has been involved with PPS-SF for nearly a decade!

Dorothy is a mother of two children currently enrolled in SFUSD and is also a former African American Parent & Family Leader of two years. She has been a shining star in her support of PPS-SF.

Winnie is a talented, dedicated college student who expressed a desire to serve the Chinese community through service with PPS-SF. Winnie has a passion for equality and using her voice to improve the lives of families in her community.
