Name & Title: Martha Montufar, Bilingual Program Manager
Short bio of Martha’s background/experience: Martha Montufar is an experienced program manager, planner, trainer, facilitator and designer of diverse and diversified programs. She has developed keen understanding of curriculum development for education programs and arts integration.
Her emphasis has been in multicultural studies. She studied International Relations with a focus on Latin American Studies, women and development; later integrating her art experiences into community development. She is a consultant and researcher for Community Development and Parental Engagement who embraces and engages five constituencies: students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members in authentic partnership for increased student achievement.
She is an art educator and service provider presenting lessons and curriculum that uses the arts as a means to bridge differences of culture, language, and role status through different art forms such as drawing, painting, music, theatre, storytelling, film, and book making.
Why Martha chooses to do this work: After being new to the United States system of education and experiencing many challenges navigating and advocating for my children’s academic success, I believe that informed and engaged parents can become authentic collaborative partners to support student academic success and help schools meet their academic goals. This in turn brings about Strong and Healthy Communities!!!
A fun fact about her: She LOVES dancing to any type of music, so much so, that you can catch her dancing even at a supermarket isle!
One of her favorite quotes: Happiness is not in our circumstances but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are.
