We are so glad that to announce a new member of the PPS-SF team, our Community Outreach Coordinator Patrick Qiu! Read more about him and his journey to PPS-SF below.
Name & Title: Patrick Qiu, Community Outreach Coordinator.
Short bio of Patrick’s background & experience: Patrick was born & raised in Hong Kong and graduated from University there. He was a Geography and Chinese Language teacher for twenty years in Hong Kong. His professional background and experiences working with students, parents & teachers provide him with a good mix of skills and knowledge to communicate with the Chinese parents and youth in San Francisco. I am a good listener and capable of helping parents who speak in Cantonese and Mandarin!
Why he chooses to do this work: As a Chinese parent, it's very meaningful for me to help the Chinese family to get a better education for their kids! As a Chinese parent in San Francisco, I found it really difficult for me to connect with school and other parents. PPS-SF provides me with a perfect platform where I can connect Chinese parents and help them with my professional background.
Fun fact about Patrick: I am an English soccer lover. I have been a fan of Liverpool FC for more than thirty years - unfortunately my son likes Manchester City FC. :(
