Get Involved in the Year Ahead for PPS-SF

As families, students, and teachers welcome a new school year, PPS-SF is working hard to make this transition time a little easier for families. We have been supporting families in the Wait Pool process, answering questions about enrollment for 2022, and reconnecting with school communities. Throughout this year, our workshops and family leadership programs will empower parents and caregivers to become leaders in their schools and bring families together to act in solidarity with one another.

You can help us bring these programs to families across San Francisco by making a donation today!

While PPS-SF has long worked with equity in mind, in 2021, our staff and board made a commitment to explicitly center equity in all we do. Here are some ways we plan to do this in the coming year:

EQUITABLE ACCESS to information ensures that families have what they need to make informed decisions about their children, schools, and communities. Our enrollment workshops help families understand the process and find schools that will work for them. This year, we will increase the number of Latinx families served through enrollment workshops by doubling the number of Spanish workshops we offer. EQUITABLE ENGAGEMENT enables families to support their students and their schools and be meaningfully included in decision-making. We facilitate Latinx, Chinese, and African American Family Clubs to build community and share knowledge and offer family workshops that bring whole school communities together. Our new Restorative Restart curriculum will bring families and school staff together to communicate and begin to heal from both long-standing inequities as well as new traumas that arose during the pandemic. Your PTA or school can bring a workshop to your community! Learn more about family partnership programs here.

BUILDING CAPACITY FOR EQUITY will benefit all San Francisco school communities. We work with SFUSD and community organizations to gather information and facilitate discussions that deepen trust and lead to more equitable policies. In 2021-22, we hope to increase these collaborations to help families across the city speak with a unified voice to advance educational equity. Is your organization interested in getting involved? Send us an email so we can connect!

We have much more planned for this year, but we need your support to get there. Make a difference for San Francisco families by donating to Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco. We can’t do this work without you!
