Welcome to the Team: Dr. Iris Taylor
Dr. Iris Taylor has worked in the field of education for 34 years and most recently served as the Chief Academic Officer for the 11th largest school district in the State of California where she provided oversight and direction to the district’s academic programs and services. Dr. Taylor joined the district in 2012 to serve as the Coordinator, of Equity, Access, and Excellence and shortly transitioned into the position of Assistant Superintendant of Curriculum and Instruction to lead the district’s Common Core implementation. Dr. Taylor also holds leadership experience in charter schools and was the Instructional Officer for a small network of charter schools within the Chicago Public School System.
Dr. Taylor began her educational career as a middle school English Teacher within the Los Angeles Unified School District where she taught for 11 years. She has a diverse range of experiences within the field of education and has served as a School Change Coach with The National Equity Project (formerly known as the Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools) and as a Program Associate in the Center for Literacy at Learning Point Associates which is now the American Institue for Research.
Dr. Taylor has a background in educational research and worked as a Research Assitant with the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, and Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a B.A in Enlgish from the Univesity of California, Los Angeles, an M.A in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and an Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction from Teachers College, Columbia University.
