PPS-SF Welcomes New Community Outreach Associate, Dorothy Clark
Hello PPS-SF community,
PPS-SF is excited to announce the newest addition to our team, Community Outreach Associate Dorothy Clark. Dorothy joins our PPS-SF team with much knowledge on our organization and San Francisco public schools. Dorothy started out with PPS-SF as a parent ambassador, then she was promoted to parent leader. Now we are happy to officially have Dorothy as a part of the PPS-SF Community Engagement team.
We sat down with Dorothy for a Q&A and invite you see for yourself her passion and excitement for her promotion here at PPS-SF.
Q: Why did you choose to join PPS-SF?
Dorothy: The last principal at my children's school asked me to do an interview for PPS-SF. That led to me becoming a parent ambassador and it was also how I originally came to know PPS-SF and the amazing work we do.
Q: Summarize your work experience for me... how did you get here?
Dorothy: After I became a parent ambassador, the Strategic Executive Advisor for PPS-SF—Greg Bailey approached me about becoming a parent leader. The following year I was on the parent board, working closely with parents and PPS-SF to advocate for SF families. Once I met Executive Director Vanessa Marrero, she encouraged me to apply for this position… and I am happy that I did!
Q: What are your top priorities?
Dorothy: One of my biggest priorities is to recruit Black parent leaders as well as working with our allies [B and MO Magic] in the way ED Vanessa Marrero and the executive team would like me to. Another priority of mine will also be to learn and retain as much as I can in order to help families make the best decisions for themselves.
Dorothy officially began her new position at PPS-SF earlier this month. Please join us with a warm welcome to Dorothy for joining our PPS-SF team!
Warmly,
The PPS-SF team
