If someone were to ask me what "comunidad" (community) means to me, I would say it’s about value, equity, and trust. You build a community by valuing people's time, effort, and energy; providing equity by being fair and ensuring everyone has access to opportunities and resources; and fostering trust through reliability, care, and awareness.  

“I want to encourage leaders to refrain from leveraging (AB 1912) Bonta's legislation in any way to justify "student outcomes" victim blaming of communities of color. Cutting programs before an equity analysis takes place? Follow the law. Here is guidance” 

Looking at SFUSD from a national perspective working with an education foundation – I can’t help but ponder: How can we, San Francisco parents who are against racism, for inclusive curriculum, and for fully funded schools, propel public education forward with these values in mind in this very “special” SF environment? I’m learning of all sorts of advances nationally that don’t seem to make it into our own town – and it’s our own perceptions that seem to stop us in our tracks.   

A legislative bill that requires a school district that is the recipient of emergency apportionment to follow specified procedures when deciding to close or consolidating schools.
